When I do see what beauty lies below,
As waves crash o’er the rocks both sharp and hard,
And gulls fly high, with paths both to and fro,
My heart, it swells to see no wall, no guard;
Another day, walking in forest fair,
Leaves danced, their shapes cut beams of light so bright,
Soft cries of beasts seemed songs within the air,
And I, myself, was filled with such delight;
The day grew late and I then turn’d to home,
I made my way o’er hills of stone and weeds,
With golden brush the sunset swept the loam,
And here, ‘tis I who live among the reeds;
At end of path I see a truth so clear,
Like dawn, it breaks, for I am also here.
