Pop's Biscuits Supreme
These are the biscuits my dad makes for his biscuits and gravy.
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 4 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
- 2 tsp sugar
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 2/3 cup milk
Instructions
- Sift dry ingredients or mix up with a dry whisk
- Cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add milk all at once and stir just until dough is moist.
- Dump out on countertop and knead about 6-8 times, then roll 1/2 in. thick.
- Cut with a 3" juice glass, biscuit, or cookie cutter.
- Bake on ungreased cookie sheet 10-12 minutes at 450 degrees.
