Cabbage roll skillet
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs. lean ground beef
- 1 tbsp. olive oil
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1/2 medium head of cabbage, shredded
- 2 14.5 oz. cans of diced tomatoes
- 1 8 oz. can of tomato sauce
- 1 tbsp. palm sugar
- 3 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
- 3/4 cup water
- 3/4 cup long-grain white rice
- kosher salt to taste
- ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add 1 tbsp. oil and once hot add the ground beef, cooking and stirring for a couple minutes.
- Add the onion, stir, and cook until the onion is translucent and the beef is browned.
- Add the cabbage, tomatoes, tomato sauce, sugar, and vinegar. Cook and stir for 5 minutes.
- Add the water and rice. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 30 minutes.
- Add salt and pepper to taste.
