These are my piecemeal notes about St. John's, the capital and largest city in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.
The weather here is pretty mild. It doesn't get particularly cold in winter, or hot in summer. However, the wind is enthusiastic. When it rains or snows, this can be a problem.
There's a trail that goes from Virginia Park to Lake Qidi Vidi. Besides being a nice trail, there are also wild raspberries growing near the lake part of it, if you go during the right time of year.
YellowBelly Brewery is a fun local brewery downtown. It also has a speakeasy in the basement called Underbelly. Underbelly's OK, but it's nothing like Volstead's Emporium in Minneapolis.
Another great brewery in town is Qidi Vidi. It's perched on the lake of the same name, and its real claim to fame is its Iceberg beer, made with ice from icebergs. Iceberg is the only light beer that I actually like.
